February is school board appreciation month. As part of that, we wanted to highlight our amazing school board members. Today's highlight is Jarvis Bailey. Below are some questions we asked him and his answers (in bold), that will hopefully let you know a little about him!
1. What inspired you to want to join Fredericksburg City Public Schools School Board?
I wanted to make a difference in my community and demonstrate my belief in and commitment to civic responsibility. As an educator, service on my local school board is an excellent way to blend my expertise with my passion for serving others.
2. What do you want your community, students, faculty, and staff to know about you or, in general, that you feel is important for them to know? I love teaching and learning, seeing students grow and fulfill their dreams, and being part of shaping the future of the Fredericksburg community. My association with Fredericksburg City Public Schools has been gratifying.
3. Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
The public library is one of my favorite places. I love the library so much that I considered becoming a librarian. But it's not just the books that make the library exciting. The public library is a community nexus for enlightenment, empowerment, and entertainment.
